The reality: We are all working in smaller newsrooms and with smaller staffs.
The challenge: We must continue to put out pages that shine and are appealing to readers.
There are lots of ways to approach the situation. I hope to start a discussion on ways to do it.
Here, the lines between different design “jobs” are becoming fuzzier. Most of the staff can pitch in and help as needed. We have had sports designers put together business pages and the person doing the local front may help with skyboxes on A1.
Every night, it is a group effort. And so far no one seems to mind.
